Saint Michael Archangel is the patron saint of Police Officers, Grocers, The Sick, Artists, Bakers, bankers, Mariners and Paratroopers.Feast day September 29th. The name Michael signifies "Who is like to God" he is also known as "the prince of the heavenly host". " St. Michael is one of the principal angels; his name was the war-cry of the good angels in the battle fought in heaven against the enemy and his followers. Four times his name is recorded in Scripture. He is usually pictured as a strong warrior, dressed in armour and wearing sandals. In the Christian Bible, Michael is said to be the Angel who told the Virgin Mary of her approaching death.

Michael is associated with Wednesday/Sunday. His healing rays are different shades of blue ranging from light blue to dark violet hues.  His metal is Mercury and crystals associated with him are sapphire and topaz.

Archangel Michael represents strength, protection, personal and absolute truth. He enables us to cur away fear and other negative emotions.


St. Michael is one of the seven archangels.  His stories are made known to us through Scripture.  In the Old Testament book of Daniel, Michael is referred to as one of the chief princes.  Michael comes to aid and to comfort Daniel and is represented as the protector of the people of Israel during the Babylonian Exile.  The New Testament Epistle of St. Jude reveals the dispute between Michael and the devil over Moses' body.  While warning against false teachers in our communities, St. Jude notes that even Michael leaves the judgment of the devil to the Lord.  Finally, in Revelation, we are told of a great battle in Heaven between Michael with his angels and the dragon.  Michael is seen as overpowering the dragon, which loses its' place in Heaven.  Because of this victory over evil, St. Michael is believed to be the protector of all Christians aginst the devil, especially at the hour of our death.  He can protect us in any of our daily battles.  In art St. Michael the archangel is typically shown standing over the dragon or some image of the devil, in full armour with sword and shield.  He hold perfectly balanced scales symbolising his role during judgment, of weighing the souls of the departed.

Prayer To St. Michael

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spiritis who wander throught the world for the ruin of souls.

Michael, glorious prince, chief and champion of the heavenly host, guardian of the souls of men, conqueror of the rebel angels, steward of the palace of God under Jesus Christ, our worthy Leader, endowed with super human excellence and virtue, grant to free us all from every ill, who with full confidence have recourse to you; and by your incomparable protection enable us to make progress every day in the faithful service of our God.  Amen.

Prayer of St. Michael

O God, who did render blessed Michael, Your Archangel, victorious over the proud Lucifer, and all the wicked spirits, we implore You, that combating under the Cross and ever adopting his motto, 'Who is like God,' we may be victorious over all our enemies, and delivered from all impediments, regulate our lives according to Your will and commandments.  Through Jesus Christ, Our Lord.

Consecration To St. Michael

St Michael the Archangel, invincible Prince of the Angelic hosts and glorious proctector of the universal Church. I greet thee and praise thee for that splendor with which God has adorned thee so richly.  I thank God for the great graces He has bestowed upon thee, especially to remain faithful with Lucifer and his followers rebedded and to battle victoriously for the honour of God and the Divinity of the Son of Man.
St. Michael I consecrate to thee my soul and body.  I choose thee as my patron and protector and entrust the salvation of my soul to thy care.  Be the guardian of my obligation as a child of God and of the Catholic Church as again I renounce Satan, his work and pomps.  Assist me by thy powerful intercession in the fulfillment of these sacred promises, so that imitating thy courage and loyalty to God and in trusting thy kind help and protection, I may be victorious over the enemies of my soul and be united with God in Heaven forever. Amen.
