That's it ... I've had enough!

"Don't be discouraged. It's often the last key in the bunch that opens the lock. " ~ Unknown

Is there something in your life that you are quitting on?

Giving up on?

Quitting before you have really given it a fair shot.

Are you walking away from your dreams?

Are you consoling yourself by saying any or all of the following?

I'm too old, too young.

I just don't have the time.

I'm not good enough.

I don't have the right qualifications.

I have no experience so who will listen to me?

I'm afraid that people [family, friends, colleagues will laugh at me if my work isn't good enough].

I don't understand any of this new technology, it's just too much, and it changes rapidly.

I'm confused about how to progress; it's just all too overwhelming …, That’s it ... I had enough!

"When you feel like giving up, remember why you held on for so long in the first place." ~ Unknown

If this is true, then it is heartbreaking because all of these feelings, these concerns can be addressed and solved. There is an answer for everything, sometimes all you need is the right information. It is simply not true that you are not enough. All it means is that you just don’t have the right information to base your decisions upon and consequently you can feel overwhelmed by many or even all of the above symptoms.

The simple truth is:

  • You are never too old or too young; if someone says this to you then you are speaking to the wrong person. Look for someone else.

  • Not enough time; this is all about time management. Time management is a skill that you can learn.

  • Qualifications; another skill that you can learn and is closely aligned with the skill of time management.

  • No experience; again you are speaking to the wrong person; you seek out people who support you not take from you.

  • Fear of failure; a universal feeling, you are not alone in feeling this but planning and goal setting can help get you on your feet and help overcome this, and these skills will then enable you to refocus.

  • The opinions of others; those who you think would laugh at you. Take note of the people who support your dreams and the people in your life who support your aspirations. These people are leaders, managers, and proactive positive people. The people who negate you think small, think local and it reflects their own thinking not yours. In these instances set clear boundarieswith family members and friends and remember it is only their opinion, you can choose to accept or reject it.

  • Understanding and using technological advances; again this is just about being open to learning new information and skills.

  • Being confused and overwhelmed; all this is, is doubts-doubting yourself and your dreams.

To change your mind or your point of view from “That’s it … I’ve had it, to that’s it … I get it!”
You need
  • Desire,
  • Willingness to learn new skills, strategies, outlook,
  • Persistence.
When you have the desire of wanting to have your dream life, dream health, dream family, dream relationships, dream career etc you’ve got to really, really want it, then be prepared to do whatever it takes and not give up until you get it.

You can be whatever you want to be but you must be clear about your dream. When it gets challenging you must be able to see the finishing line because this helps you to focus and refocus your strength, to redouble your efforts to get over the little obstacles that you will encounter. These obstacles are merely stepping stones to your dream.

Chart your own course to success, keep your direction clear; surround yourself with people who support and encourage you and above all dream big.

"Never give up on what you really want to do. The person with big dreams is more powerful than one with all the facts." ~ Unknown

To fear or not to fear that is the question?

False Evidences Appearing Real.

What is the nature of your fears?

Where do they come from?

Can we get rid of them?

Why have they so much power over us?

Ponder these questions in the light of your own individual experiences and then read these quotes on the nature of fear.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration . I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain. F. Herbert

You are frightened of everything? You call it caution. You call it common sense. You call it practicality. You call it playing the odds, but that's only because you're afraid to call it by its real name, and its real name is fear. M. Farren

To him who is in fear everything rustles. Sophocles

fear keeps you small and not in your power but in the power of others.

No passion so effectually robs the mind of all its powers of acting and reasoning as fear. E. Burke

Fear is the main source of superstition, and one of the main sources of cruelty. To conquer fear is the beginning of wisdom. Bertrand Russell

The whole secret of existence is to have no fear. Never fear what will become of you, depend on no one. Only the moment you reject all help are you freed. Buddha

There are two basic motivating forces: fear and love. When we are afraid, we pull back from life. When we are in love, we open to all that life has to offer with passion, excitement, and acceptance. We need to learn to love ourselves first, in all our glory and our imperfections. If we cannot love ourselves, we cannot fully open to our ability to love others or our potential to create. Evolution and all hopes for a better world rest in the fearlessness and open-hearted vision of people who embrace life. J. Lennon

Expose yourself to your deepest fear; after that, fear has no power, and the fear of freedom shrinks and vanishes. You are free. J. Morrison

We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light. Plato

I must say a word about fear. It is life's only true opponent. Only fear can defeat life. It is a clever, treacherous adversary, how well I know. It has no decency, respects no law or convention, shows no mercy. It goes for your weakest spot, which it finds with unnerving ease. It begins in your mind, always so you must fight hard to express it. You must fight hard to shine the light of words upon it. Because if you don't, if your fear becomes a wordless darkness that you avoid, perhaps even manage to forget, you open yourself to further attacks of fear because you never truly fought the opponent who defeated you. Yann Martel - Life of Pi

How do you define fear?

Where is fear showing up for you in your life?

The first step in healing your fears is to become aware of their presence.

Once you acknowledge their presence then you can identify if what you fear is actually real-only you know what is true for you.

Make a list of your current fears and see how real they actually are.

Eg. Fear of flying, Fear of the dark, fear of spiders, water, open/closed spaces etc.

Try taking the first step this week in challenging one of your fears, even if you only acknowledge its existence and then explore its roots. Have courage that this fear in itself does not have any power to hurt you only your thinking makes it so.

Fear is always in the dark, and when you shine the light on them they like the darkness disappear.

Today if you are not where you want to be in your life then someone or something is holding you back?

What is this something?

Who is the someone?

“ ....there is no obstacle you cannot surmount, no challenge you cannot meet, no fear you cannot conquer, no matter how impossible it may seem.” Erin Brockovich

Do you have a vision of where you want to go in your life?

“The only way to discover the limits of the possible is to go beyond then into the impossible.”

If you do not have a vision for your life then all roads will take you to your destination.

There comes a point in your life when you have to take control in order to get the results that you are searching for. When you take this first step of being in your own power then you become more aware of all the opportunities that exist to help you reach your destination. Remember to “Never grow a wishbone, daughter where your backbone should be.” Clementine Paddleford 1900

Create the best vision you can for the life that you truly deserve.

What Way Are You Doing It ?

I will not be famous or great. I will go on adventuring, changing, opening my mind and my eyes, refusing to be stamped or stereotyped. The thing is to free oneself: to let it find its dimensions, not be impeded. Virginia Woolf.

Self-love is the foundation key to the life of love, joy, peace, happiness that we are looking for. “Well ordered self-love is right and natural”. Thomas Aquinas.

Loving yourself unconditionally is vital in order to embrace all of our sense of self-worth. Loving every part of self is needed in order for us to grow. Many people are taken aback by suggesting a love of self, believing that we already love ourselves enough: but why then are we so full of judgements, fears, failures and doubts?

“Self-love my liege is not so vile a sin as self-neglecting”. Shakespeare.

In “The Biology of Belief,” Dr. Bruce Lipton, states that if you want to know what you really think of yourself; of your level of self love, of how you treat yourself, and then just take a good look at your life. He believes that our subconscious limiting beliefs run our lives; that our life is a print out of our subconscious mind. The resolution is self love. “When you are compassionate with yourself, you trust in your soul, which you let guide your life. Your soul knows the geography of your destiny better than you do.” John O’Donohue.

The degree to which an individual is stuck and struggling in their life correlates to the limiting beliefs or their negative subconscious beliefs that they are holding true for themselves. “Self talk reflects your innermost feelings.” Asa Don Brown.

If all this is true, then we are always manifesting our lives based on our subconscious values. These values are determining our world. Our values are dictating our life and consequently our destiny. “The true value of a human being is determined primarily by the measure and the sense in which he has attained liberation from the self.” Albert Einstein.

“To thine own self be true.” Shakespeare.

Be true to yourself, to know your own self worth, to love yourself unconditionally you must be aware of these beliefs, these values that are running your life. “Whatever you think you can do or believe you can do, be it “Goethe.

If you pay attention to the core issue of self love and become aware of the values that are true for you, you start living your life by your choices not others or what others choose for you. “We cannot think of being acceptable to others until we have first proven acceptable to ourselves.” Malcolm X.

When you do this you take back your power, you begin to live life from a place of being not from a place of lack. You take charge of your life and live it your way.

“For what is man, what has he got? If not himself then he has naught. To say the things he truly feels and not the words of one who kneels. The record shows I took the blows and did it my way......... Yes it was my way.” Frank Sinatra 1968.

Who's Life Is It Anyway ?

All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players.

They have exits and their entrances “(Shakespeare’s As You Like It, 1600)

Shakespeare puts forth the idea that our world is a stage, that we are mere actors: expanding on this notion we can ask how are we acting in our own dramas and whose script are we following?

If you are not following your own script, then you must be following someone else’s.

In relation to our character qualities, some of which we like, but more often than not these traits that we don’t like are the dominant drivers of our actions. These traits that are “not good “is where our greatest power lies. Like stage directions they point us in the direction of our true destiny.

In life our hardship, trials and tribulations can be opportunities to re-write our scripts, our history. The word History comes from the Greek word historia meaning inquiry, knowledge acquired by investigation. It is the discovery, collection and organisation and presentation of information about past events. These emotions, these feelings garnered from those periods of our lives, are our guidance of what is no longer serving us. We have upon reflection the gift of renewal.

Every great dramatic work evolves due to conflict. Conflict allows the character to evolve, to explore and grow leading to transformations. Conflicts in our lives grow us; grow our story to another level. In Emily Dickinson’s poem entitled “The Soul Selects Her Own Society - “The Soul can be viewed in the light that it selects because the “body” cannot; that the body is fated by birth, family, society. When you write your own script you are empowered to be the true hero in your own story and create your own history.

In all good dramas, the characters wear masks. The masks hide their true identities, their shadows.

What mask is covering your light, your true identity, your shadows?

What mask is covering your happiness?

So what role are you playing in your life?

What role do you want to play?

Whose life, whose story is it anyway?
