I love this image of magnified grains of sand (magnified 250 times). Each grain is so thoroughly unique and different in shape, colour, texture and even size. It would be lovely to scoop up a small amount of sand and see this myriad of complexity in your own hand, if only our human eyes could distinguish such small complex objects. These grains are so individual and have spent many years been tossed against one another or rolled and washed together by the waves, this gives them their individual shape and textures.
We are not unlike the grains of sand. We are all different and unique. Yet looked at as a whole we may appear the same or to have similar qualities but when put under a microscope our uniqueness shines through. We develop our texture and surface from our experiences in life and end up polished and glistening from our journey here on earth just like the gems of polished grains above.
Next time you're at the beach take a look at the sand and imagine you are just one of those grains, but remember that if you could really see the beauty and complexity of the beach in magnified vision you would be walking on an incredibly colourful carpet of rare gems.
